Jewelry Care

Each piece of jewelry that you purchase from Ella B will come in a pouch or presentation box that is ideal for its storage. We will also include a care sheet to provide you with specific details on how to care for each item. This will help you maintain the beauty of your jewelry for years to come, but we do ask you to keep in mind that all of our jewelry is hand-crafted, and therefore delicate.
Here are some general guidelines for appropriate jewelry care:
- After each use, please gently wipe the piece of jewelry with a soft cloth and store it in a jewelry pouch, presentation box, or zip-lock bag to prevent scratches on the stone and metal surfaces and to inhibit excess oxidation.
- Avoid direct contact with water and excessive perspiration, and do not apply hair sprays, lotions, and perfumes after putting on your jewelry.
- It is best to keep all gemstones from excessive light, extreme heat, and sudden changes in temperature.
- Do not expose gemstones to acids, chemicals, or solvents including, but not limited to, chlorine, sulfur, and detergent.
- Although we generally recommend wiping metal surfaces with a polishing cloth, please be aware that excessive polishing will rub off the plating on any plated metal, and is therefore not recommended.Do not use a polishing cloth on stardust beads. Doing so will quickly remove the radiant finish. Instead, use a liquid jewelry cleaner (or sterling silver cleaner when appropriate) gently with a soft bristle brush, rinse, and pat dry.
- All pearls, and most gemstones (especially soft stones like turquoise, coral, opal, etc.) do not stand the force of cleaning agents, polishing cloths, or ultrasonic cleaners.
- We recommend having your jewelry professionally cleaned and, if applicable, restrung on an annual basis.
